GTA 6's Full Map Has Reportedly Leaked — We're Not Posting It

What's happening

The GTA 6 leak that started with gameplay clips on August 18 escalated fast. Alongside the video, a full map of Leonida has reportedly been circulating — Rockstar's fictional take on Florida, and the setting for GTA 6.

Rockstar is DMCA-ing reposts of the map images at roughly the same speed as the gameplay clips. Some accounts sharing it have had entire pages taken down, not just individual posts.

We're not posting the map. Not because we doubt it's real — the takedown response says otherwise — but because reposting it risks the same page shutdowns other outlets have already run into this week, for a payoff that doesn't outlast the official reveal by more than a few days.

What the leaked map reportedly shows

According to descriptions from people who've seen it, the map covers all five counties of Leonida in full, not a partial or blocked-out version. It shows a rail system connecting major areas — something not confirmed in any official Rockstar material so far — along with a number of small islands scattered off the coastline that appear explorable.

That's a meaningfully bigger claim than earlier speculation about the map's scope. If accurate, it points to a state built for more varied traversal than driving alone, though nothing about how the rail system actually works in play has leaked.

Treat all of it as unconfirmed until Rockstar says otherwise.

Who's behind it

The same account, Cyberleek, is attached to both the gameplay clips and the map. They've described having access to an actual playable build of the game, not just a static image or an early asset dump.

A manifesto reportedly posted alongside the files frames the leak as protest, not just exposure for its own sake. The stated demands: a public apology from Rockstar and Take-Two, and a stated commitment against digital-only pre-orders and what the manifesto calls "fake single-player DLC." Cyberleek has said more material is coming until that happens.

None of that is a claim we can verify independently, and it doesn't change how we're covering it either way.

Why digital-only is the actual flashpoint

Strip away the leak itself and the underlying complaint isn't new. Physical game releases have been shrinking across the industry for years, and pre-orders on a digital-only release mean paying upfront for something you can't resell, lend, or hold onto if a storefront ever goes away.

Whether or not you agree with leaking a $2 billion game over it, that's the actual argument being made here — not "GTA 6 bad," but "the way it's being sold is." Rockstar hasn't responded to the manifesto specifically as of this writing.

How big is Leonida actually

None of this is confirmed, so treat it as pure speculation stacked on top of an already-unconfirmed leak. But if the five-county, rail-connected, island-dotted description holds up, it points to a map built around more than one traversal method — not just a bigger version of GTA V's Los Santos and Blaine County, but one designed with rail and boat routes as real alternatives to driving.

That would be a meaningful structural shift, not just a size increase. Again: unconfirmed, and worth remembering leak descriptions tend to get more dramatic each time they're retold secondhand.

The Red Dead Redemption angle

The more interesting detail buried in the leak isn't the map itself — it's what showed up next to it. Footage from the same build reportedly includes an honor-style system: a devil icon with a minus sign that appears on-screen and on a portrait of Jason, tracking something closer to Red Dead Redemption's honor mechanic than anything in a mainline GTA game before it.

That's notable because GTA has never run a karma system. Red Dead Redemption and its sequel did, tracking player choices and shifting how the world reacted over time. If this is accurate, it suggests Rockstar borrowed more from its western games than just a shared engine.

Same rule applies here as everywhere else in this leak: unconfirmed until Rockstar confirms it.

Why full pages are getting shut down

This is worth explaining plainly, because it's the actual reason we're being careful. A DMCA takedown normally targets one post or one video. What's happening this week is broader — entire accounts that centered their recent activity on reposting the leak have gone dark, not just the individual clips.

That's a bigger risk than a single strike, and it's not one we're taking for content that adds nothing beyond what Rockstar is about to show directly.

What actually matters right now

Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premieres on Netflix at 3 PM ET on August 27, exclusively for six hours before it hits Rockstar's YouTube channel and the official GTA 6 site at 9 PM ET the same day.

If the map, the rail system, or anything else leaked this week is real, it'll be confirmed there — or eventually in the game itself on November 19, when GTA 6 releases on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The pattern to watch

Every major GTA 6 leak so far — 2022 and this one — has followed the same shape. Footage spreads, the studio moves to take it down, the takedown speed itself becomes the closest thing to confirmation anyone gets, and then Rockstar eventually addresses it directly, on its own schedule. This week is tracking the same path.

The difference this time is timing. In 2022, the leak forced Rockstar's hand and moved up a reveal that wasn't otherwise scheduled. This time, the reveal was already locked for August 27 before Cyberleek posted anything. That takes away most of the leverage a leak like this normally has.
